Guns and Butter Man

8-16-07 Third in a series of rabid rants. I was chatting with a fellow patriot and he passed on a bit of outrageous skulldudgery. There is a current stealth move by OSHA (Occupation, Safety and Health Administration) to ban bullets. I have long been puzzled that the gun control crowd never attacked ammunition. Clearly, the second amendment protects the individual right to keep and bear arms. Ammunition is not mentioned. This is due to the fact that at the time the document was written, everyone made their own bullets and many people made their own gun powder. The great state of DuPont was started by the commercial production of gunpowder but, I digress. So, here’s their game. They want to make it a law so that any building in which you manufacture, store or sell ammunition will have to be evacuated of all personnel during any electrical storm. Now this is laughable on a number of fronts. The manufacturing plants all have ‘Faraday cages’. That is, a metal net in the walls or around the building to intercept lightning. The safest place during a thunder storm is in an ammunition factory. Second, there has never been an incident wherein lightening has set off ammunition in a retail environment. As usual, facts, reason and science are irrelevant to the left wing liberal gun ban crowd. Their wet dream is to make it unreasonable for Wal Mart to sell ammunition. Here is what will really happen. The manufacturers will probably get this killed. It is completely without merit and an unreasonable barrier to free enterprise. The ammunition factories also produce military hardware and so, would be immune from OSHA on those grounds alone. The second arena is retail. Here, OSHA has a chance. Some chains will fight it but others will meakly drop ammunition sales. Walmart has already quit selling guns and ammo in all urban and most suburban settings. This is simple supply and demand but, there is also some pandering to the gun ban nuts. My hope and belief is that Quinn’s First Law will prevail. Jim Quinn is a syndicated morning talk show host. If you don’t get him in your neighborhood, agitate your radio stations. Anyway, Quinn’s First Law states : Liberalism always generates the exact opposite of its’ stated intent. So, trying to limit the sales of ammunition will increase sales. This will work for several reasons. People like me will see a threat and stock up. Like I need more bullets. But, I will invest in more ammunition just to hedge my bet. Secondly, if Walmart pulls out of the market, local Mom and Pop shops that are really hurt by Walmart will see a huge increase in business. So this liberal move to confiscate ammunition is the best thing that could happen to the gun community. Liberalism is a mental disorder but they are fun watch. So, never give up, never surrender and watch the enemies’ every move. Crispus Attucks
