Pest Control Company Charged With Animal Cruelty After Squirrel Found 'Cooked to Death'

HAZLET, N.J. —  The owner of a New Jersey pest control company has been charged with animal cruelty after a squirrel was found dead in a rooftop trap. The Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals charged Kathleen Buck, owner of Critter Ridder, on Friday. Chief Buddy Amato says a professional complex hired Critter Ridder to help get rid of the squirrel. He says a trap was set Wednesday for the animal, and no one returned to check on it. Amato says the squirrel was found "cooked to death on the hot roof" Thursday afternoon. Buck faces four counts of animal cruelty, including one that cites her for not providing the squirrel with adequate food, water and shelter. She calls the situation a "misunderstanding," and says customers usually call when an animal is caught.

I am in utter awe. Who the heck gave Monmouth County Society for the Prevention blah blah blah permission to press charges on a human? And, what happens if Kathleen Buck, in the line of duty, were to sneak up behind the poor squirrel and scare the sucker to death of a heart attack?  Would she be charged then? Where do we stop ?  I always believe that critters like Squirrel, Ground Hogs, Chipmunks, Mice, Rats, and virtually anything smaller than a dog are fair game to kill? When do rodents have more rights than people? When did this happen to America???? Kathleen – If you read this – tell the “Society” to go F%$^ themselves! I would! And, just like the wacko’s who go after Gun manufacturers for killing people in shootings, I think we should sue the Shingle company for making shingles that get so hot that Squirrels trapped in cages on the roof get baked! Or, perhaps we should sue the Society for not providing enough food and water for the city’s rodents which forces them to rooftops of peoples homes for food?  God damn it!  Someone should pay for the death of this damn squirrel!  How tragic!
