Roethlisberger: He’s Just A Man

Roethlisberger: He’s Just a Man
I am amazed at how much backlash and negative publicity that Ben Roethlisberger, star quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is facing over alleged rape accusations that have gone unfounded, twice.

People like John Steigerwald, a long time  and well known Pittsburgh sports announcer and writer, have jumped on the ban wagon and is leading the witch hunt to not only rid Pittsburgh of Ben Roethlisberger, but also return the Pittsburgh Steelers to the class of mediocre football teams.

How easy people have forgotten the role that Ben has played over the years in bringing the Steelers two, count them, TWO, Super Bowl rings.

Bubby Brister didn’t.
Kordel Stewart didn’t.
Tommy Maddox didn’t.
Mike Tomczak didn’t
Neil O’Donnell didn’t.
Mark Malone didn’t
Cliff Stout didn’t.

Do you remember those names?  I do.  And I can still feel the pain of having lived through FOUR Terry Bradshaw Super Bowls and having to then go without a ring until Ben stepped up to the plate.

It was a long drought.  And Ben was the Rain Maker.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Rooney family certainly bring to Pittsburgh a top notch NFL team whose long list of successes, pride, and tradition have made the Steelers one of the top franchises in NFL history.  And why should that stop now?

Look, if you are reading this, then you have an obvious interest in this topic.  And, for what it is worth, Ben should not place himself in positions where he has to defend his actions.  Yes, he has a reputation to uphold, and has to be guided by the rules and regulations of the employer that signs his checks.

I don’t think Ben Roethlisberer is a psychotic rapist.  Nor do I think he is a sexually deprived mad man.  He is a man.  Period.

Times are different today than they were 20 years ago.  Who can dispute this?  Women today dress the role.  They play the role.  They do the deed more so today, and at a younger age, than during any previous generation.  I wish I was 25 again…

And, who are we to criticize Ben for going out and having a good time?  He is just a man.  Men party.  Women party.  And sometimes, things don’t go the way they are planned.

In the case of the Georgia woman, Ben, a man, and this chick, a woman, hooked up --  Plain and simple.  She was out on the town, he was out on the town, and there was plenty of booze to initiate the hookup and drop the gloves (or pants in this case…)

Does that mean we should trade Ben?  Dismantle one of the finest NFL teams just for the sake of political correctness?  Are people really that offended that people like John Steigerwald can just call him a “bum” and get away with it?

We are talking about consensual sex here people.  He was looking for the hookup.  She was looking for the hookup.  They hooked up!
Based on the police report, she and her friends had hand written “DTF” on their nametags.  And by now, you all know what that stands for.  “Down to **CK” as it has been defined.  Why would a woman advertise herself as ready and willing, and then turn and say she was not ready and willing?  I am sorry, but if a woman is advertising, I am buying.

There were other people involved who were pulling the strings behind the scenes.  I am sure of it.  I also think the woman had a boyfriend, and by claiming “rape” was the only way she could justify having sex with another man without losing her current relationship.

You know as well as I do that her friends were the ones who made the stink about the sex.  Come on guys…the ugly friends are always the ones with the loudest mouths especially when they are sitting in the shadows not getting lucky.

And this woman in Nevada – we all know now that she was a nut bag to begin with.  Why should we believe her now?  She has been in and out of therapy for having sex with a good looking, professional athlete?  Right.  There was no struggle, no attempt to call for help, nothing.  So Ben’s reputation is tarnished because one woman, who was willing to settle for cash, had sex with him.

For those people who want to see Ben traded – I say “WAKE THE HELL UP!”  Do you know how long it would take to find another Ben Roethlisberger?  Have you not yourselves witnessed his incredible athletic skills on the field?  How many times he has dodged sacks only to make an incredible play?

You all have short memories.  For me, and many of us who are paying attention, Ben is one of the greatest quarterbacks to play for the Steelers.  And, I will put him up against Bradshaw.  Terry Bradshaw, while great, was just a man too.  But Ben is by far superior in strength, height, and athletic ability than Bradshaw ever was.

Yes, I said it.  Ben Roethlisberger is proving to be far superior a Quarterback than Bradshaw.

I don’t see any lightening coming from the skies, do you?

So for you Steeler Nation people out there, you really need to sit down and evaluate your position on Ben.  The Steelers are a great team with a future that is fertile with success with Ben Roethlisberger.  Without him, we face YEARS of having to put up with inferior athletes at the position and years of losing seasons.

No, one man does not make a team.  But in this case, the Pittsburgh Steelers need Ben Roethlisberger behind center to continue the surge that this team has experienced since bringing him on board.  Anything less would be team suicide.
Ben is just a man.  But he is a hero to this football team.  He is an incredible athlete.  Why on earth would we trade him to someone else who would only use him to beat us?

Regardless of how you feel about his personal life, it is his personal life to live.  What he does off the field is his business.  He doesn’t deal drugs, doesn’t torture dogs, doesn’t shoot himself in the leg or carry a gun for that matter, and has never been accused of murder.  He had sex with a chick who was an active participant.  Do we really want to lose what we have here in Pittsburgh because of sex?

Wake up people.  I am not gay, but even I would **ck Ben Roethlisberger.

Pass this email along to all of your friends and get behind the greatest quarterback the Steelers have ever had.  If I have offended anyone regarding religion, I apoligize in advance.  We all have sex...no matter what our belief in God.
